Before Crime became the city’s second language of culture, the 7th Ward had a rhythm all its own. It was a place of high-gloss porches, the scent of Sunday morning, precision of starch-white shirts headed to Mass. But by the mid-1980s, the rhythm skipped. The 'glamor' people see in movies today, the fast money and the street legend,s was, in reality, a slow-motion fracturing of everything we called home." During the 1980s and 1990s, particularly through the Crack Era. The challenging environment of a predominantly community affected by drug epidemics, violence, and poverty


This is my experience of family life, street culture, early encounters with crime, and the struggle to survive amidst social decay, highlighting the harsh realities behind the glamorized portrayal of that time...…
